Home Theater

We all know that the receiver is the most important piece in today’s home theater. However, that doesn’t mean that you need to break the bank when it comes to buying one. There are a lot of excellent, yet affordable home theater receiver options these days. Yamaha just happens to be packing theirs with a lot of the features typically found in more expensive models.

Yamaha just introduced the RX-V379 5.1-channel home theater receiver. The company calls it an “entry-level model.” However, it does have all of the goodies you’d want for a high-tech home theater. That includes 4K Ultra HD video pass-through via HDMI 2.0. The unit actually has four HDMI inputs and one output. It also has HDCP 2.2 compatibility, which means that it works with 4K streaming devices and Blu-ray players that support this copyright protection standard. Of course, it also supports many of today’s popular audio formats, including Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio.

If you’re looking to add audio options into your home theater setup, the RX-V379 also features built-in Bluetooth. This allows you to stream music right to this home theater receiver, using a connected smartphone, tablet or computer. And to make sure that music sounds its best, the AVR includes Yamaha’s Compressed Music Enhancer feature and YPAO automatic system calibration.

Yamaha has even included a pair of virtual speaker technologies for those without the typical 5.1 speaker setup. Virtual Cinema Front allows users to get the surround sound experience with all five speakers placed at the front of the listening area, while Virtual Cinema DSP creates a surround sound experience using just two speakers.

“The RX-V379 offers first-time home theater buyers Yamaha’s high-quality audio and video performance, as well as a surprising array of features at this price point,” said Bob Goedken, general manager of Yamah’s AV division. “With Bluetooth and HDCP 2.2, it will provide years of entertainment from home components and mobile devices, as well as from eye-popping 4K Ultra HD video titles.”

The Yamaha RX-V379 home theater receiver is available now, with an MSRP of $299.95. (Available on Amazon)
